Dragonette - Pick up the Phone (Arithmatix! (Van She Tech) Remix)

Michael De Francesco of Van She has started his own music production project called Arithmatix! (Sorry, couldn't find a good pic besides this one.) Some blogs have been labeling this song a "Van She Tech" remix and because of that I was hesitant to give it a shot. (Granted, I probably wouldn't have listened to it if it wasn't labeled as such, but whatever.) My problem with alot of Van She Tech remixes is they're just too erratic and, to me, sometimes end up sounding like noise. It's almost like they are trying too hard to show you what they can do and fit too much stuff into their tracks. Less is more guys, less is more.

Perhaps all it took then was for Michael to break free on his own because this remix is near perfect. You can definitely still hear Van She Tech's trademark progressions but they aren't over the top and the beeps and glitches are sprinkled in with restraint. You know how some songs just grab you the second the vocals come in? This is one of those songs.

Jesus Candles, Eric Prydz and Rap Graph Charts

Call on Me (repeat 2,348 times)

You've heard it. You've given your best hump-thrust to it's beat
(Yes. Word. Look it up).
You've kicked Natty Light cans off a table to dance to it in College
(or is that just me?)

But Eric Prydz is not a 1 hit wonder kids. The man has skills, as evidenced by his 1/2 track appearance on DJ Hero. 'What's that?' you say? 'Being on DJ Hero doesn't make you a good DJ slash Producer????' OK, well these do:

Duran Duran - Nice (Eric Prydz Remix)

Pjanoo - Eric Prydz
(Sorry EU friends, most Americans haven't heard this)

Pjanoo (Fred Falke Edit)

Pjanoo (Deadmau5 Eric Prydz Tribute)

Calvin Harris - Flashback (Eric Prydz Remix)

and, drumroll please....

The Killers Somebody Told Me vs. Eric Prydz Pjanoo - DJ Hero Exclusive

Yeahhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So now you're probably wondering why I've only covered the 'Eric Prydz' portion of this blog's title. It's because...

I saw these Jesus Candles at Publix:

(WTF?!? No. I don't care what you're explanation is. Bad candle maker. BADDDD.)

and finally, this site fucking rocks (and is music-related):

"Rap represented in mathematical charts and graphs"

(btw, just kidding about hump-thrust...)

Pants On The Ground - American Idol finally delivers

American Idol goes against everything I believe in regarding the music industry...but damn, it's entertaining sometimes. "Pants on the Ground" by General Larry is sure to be remixed all over the place, so we thought it would be nice to bring you the original now. You know that American Idol is contrived when they allow a 62 year old to even make it in front of the judges, but how can you blame them?

My favorite part of the show last night was definitely SkiBowSki (SkiBlowSki ??), and his shirt that displayed his capability to somehow misspell his OWN nickname. When you give yourself a nickname (and I'm sure this guy gave it to himself), and then you incessantly shout that same nickname on the most watched television show in the United States... you better at least know how you want it spelled. The guy could actually jam out however, and his nonsensical jabbering was pure [fake] gold. Godspeed SKIBOWSKI, Ski-Blow-Ski, SkiBlowSki...whatever you're called.

Onto some real music, we had a reader request. This is a song we are more than happy to post for everyone to enjoy.

Tigercity - Fake Gold (Only Children Remix)

We've blogged about Tigercity before and if you haven't checked them out yet, don't fret. You're probably still cool. In the off chance that you aren't, then impress your remaining friends with this super smooth remix of Tigercity's, Fake Gold. Despite only having a few remixes to their name, the Chicago-based production team, Only Children, has proven to me that it knows what it's doing. Their remixes combine funk, electro, and disco into a professional sounding package that is consistently impressive. I see big things for their next release.

Wiley - Never Be Your Woman

UK rapper, Wiley, took a break from rapping about his Rolex to help lay down this track that reworks the 90's classic, Never Be Your Woman. Since the original is one of my all-time favorites, I was skeptical before listening. But, Wiley, along with Emeli Sande and Solo, managed to pull it off. The production is tight and the beat is sure to move those tooties.
